Split Stance Torso Rotation

Split stance with torso rotation to colour target utilising Colour cue. Developing capacity to work in split stance/trunk rotation tasks is a pre-requisite for more advanced/complex dynamic balance and agility exercises.

  • Set up in split stance position. [Pre-requisite capacity].

  • Colour cue = Colour marker.

  • Environment Constraints: Variable cone/marker height, 2kg plate load + visual constraint.

  • Task Constraints: Maintain balance in split stance; look through centre hole of plate and turn torso till cone is visible through hole in plate. Can use cardboard with cut-out to keep visual constraint without loading.

Exercise Design Notes: Constrained torso rotation adds dynamic balance and mobility challenge to the split stance position; 2kg plate for loading; multi-level cone placement for range variability.

Regression/Progression: Static split stance balance, remove load (can use cardboard); range of motion, add perturbation.
