Grid Slam Memory Task

Multi Step Slam utilising 3×4 grid set up with freeform multi cue (5 cues per repetition). Aim to remember cues in order, then complete multi cue step and slam in order from memory.

Multi Cues: Number (grid, clock, freeform), Colour (4-square) and Shape app cues can be set to give multiple cues (2-5) of the same type per repetition. For example, this Grid Step exercise utilises 5 Freeform Number cues per repetition.

  • 3×4 Grid set-up to facilitate variable step lengths.

  • Freeform cue visual format to enable visual reference of number cue order.

  • Slow pace to allow time to complete all 5 slams prior to next cue.

  • Environment Constraints: Grid size, marker distance, ball type.

  • Task Constraints: All 5 cues received prior to starting repetition. Complete 5 step and slams to corresponding number markers on grid, in order. Refer to screen if reminder needed.

Exercise Design Notes: Multi cue cognitive load to challenge working memory; set pace to slow to allow sufficient time to complete all slams in-between cue sets; Freeform format used for cue to allow easy reference to cue number order (number order cannot be checked in Grid format on screen).

Regression/Progression: Number of cues, pace, load.
